Brand strategy & positioning

Brand strategy at Rains Meridian is the work of deciding, precisely, what your company is, who it is for, and why it wins, then turning that decision into positioning, narrative, and messaging your whole team can actually use. It is led personally by Micha Rains and delivered as working documents your team will actually run with.

Who this is for

Founders and marketing leaders whose business has evolved faster than their story, and who feel the cost of that gap in every sales call, every pitch deck, and every piece of content that doesn't quite land.

This will sound familiar if

  • Sales and marketing describe the company in two different ways, and both are partially right.
  • The website copy could belong to any of your competitors.
  • Buyers like the work but can't explain what makes you different.
  • Every new campaign starts from a blank page because there is no shared story to build on.

The real problem

When the story is unsettled, everything downstream gets expensive.

Unclear positioning doesn't announce itself as a positioning problem. It shows up as long sales cycles, discount pressure, content that underperforms, and a team that works hard without compounding. So teams buy more content, more ads, more tooling, and the returns keep thinning, because every tactic is built on an unsettled foundation. Until the positioning is decided and written down, every downstream effort is negotiating with ambiguity. The fix is a sharper answer to a small set of hard questions, made once and made well.

The work

From interviews to a story your team can tell

  1. 01

Interview you, your team, and where useful your customers, because the truth about why people choose you usually lives in the sales calls.

  2. 02

Map the competitive frame honestly: what buyers believe, what competitors claim, and where the credible opening is.

  3. 03

Decide the positioning: audience, problem, promise, and proof, written in language a buyer would actually use.

  4. 04

Write the narrative and messaging hierarchy, from the one-sentence answer to 'what do you do?' down to the words on key pages.

  5. 05

Transfer it to your team in a working session, so the strategy lives in your organization's mouth, not in a PDF.

What you receive

Deliverables built to be used

  • A positioning brief you can defend in a board meeting: audience, problem, differentiation, proof
  • A messaging hierarchy: core narrative, value pillars, proof points, and the language to retire
  • Voice and tone guidance with real before-and-after examples from your own materials
  • Rewritten core pages or sales narrative applying the new story end to end
  • A working session with your team so the strategy transfers along with the documents

What changes

Outcomes you can point to

  • One story, told the same way by sales, marketing, and leadership
  • Stronger fit from inbound, because the right buyers recognize themselves faster
  • Shorter 'so what do you do?' conversations, on calls and on your homepage
  • A foundation every future campaign, page, and pitch builds on instead of renegotiating

In their words

"Micha re-wrote our marketing strategy. Sales doubled within a month of implementation. Within 6 months, we 4x our revenue. The results speak for themselves."

Questions, answered

What people ask before they call

How do I know if positioning is actually our problem?

Listen to your own team. If three people describe the company three ways, if sales calls keep re-explaining the basics, or if your content gets attention but not traction, the issue is upstream of tactics. That is a positioning problem, and no amount of content volume will fix it.

How long does brand strategy work take?

Most positioning work lands in four to eight weeks depending on how many stakeholders and customer conversations are involved. The pace is set by access: we book the interviews early and write as we learn.

What do we actually receive?

Working documents: a positioning brief, a messaging hierarchy, voice guidance with examples from your own materials, and rewritten core pages. Everything is built to be used by your team on Monday morning.

Will you work with our in-house team?

That's the preferred shape. Your team knows things no outsider can. I bring the outside perspective, the frameworks, and the hard questions; they bring the context; together we get to a story that is both true and sharp.

We're not a startup. Is this still for us?

Often more so. Established companies drift furthest from their own story: the business evolves, the narrative doesn't. The work is the same discipline applied to a bigger surface: more stakeholders to interview, more legacy materials to reconcile, and more to gain from one coherent story.

Let's talk about brand strategy for your business.

A short conversation about where you are and where you want to be. No pitch, no pressure, and you'll leave with at least one useful idea either way.
